General

MIDDELBURG – The Zeeland Book Prize (ZBP) 2024 has a few important changes this year compared to previous editions. For example, the annual registration period for participation has been brought forward one month (May 15 to June 15, 2024), there is no longer a PZC Audience Award and the prize money has been increased to €5,000. You can register via the ZB website.

The Zeeland Book Prize is a major Dutch book prize that also draws attention to Zeeland’s writing outside the province. That is precisely why this year the prize money will be increased to €5,000. The registration period for the 22nd edition will also be brought forward, so that there is more time for publicity about the books submitted. The jury selects the best titles from the books that qualify for the ZBP. Ultimately, one book is chosen that, in the opinion of the jury, is the most valuable. This book has been awarded the ZBP 2024.

Jury

The 2024 jury consists of chairman Han Polman (CvdK), Perry Moree (director ZB), Corine Nijenhuis (winner ZBP 2023), Angélique Duijndam (chairman Keti Koti Zeeland), Soan Lan Ie (nature guide ‘Speuren met Soan’), Jan van Damme (cultural journalist) and secretary Marina Polderman.

Presentation of the Zeeland Book Prize

The winner of the ZBP will be announced on Tuesday evening, November 5, 2024. That is also the start of the Zeeland Book Week. The Zeeland booksellers will award the Zeeland Bookstore Prize this evening. This could, for example, be a Zeeland author or publisher. The book is normally available in bookstores. More information will follow via dezb.nl/zeeuwseboekenprijs.
