Volvo has finally said goodbye to diesel. On Tuesday evening, the last diesel car rolled off the production line at a factory in Sweden. It concerns an XC90, which will be given a place in the yet-to-be opened Volvo museum in Gothenburg.

The car manufacturer was known for years as one of the largest diesel brands. But Volvo wants to only make electric cars by 2030.

Last year, fully electric cars accounted for 16 percent of all cars sold by Swedes.

Volvo will continue to make petrol cars for the time being, as well as hybrid models that have both a fuel engine and an electric drive.

The company will continue to supply spare parts for people who still have a diesel Volvo.
