EINDHOVEN – PSV’s football demonstration against SC Heerenveen (0-8), on Thursday evening, is still reverberating in Eindhoven and the surrounding area a day later. PSV unofficially became champions: every reason for an extra episode of ‘Heet van de Herdgang’, the ED podcast about the club.
Presenters Mascha Prins, Rik Elfrink and Frank van den Muijsenberg talk about the match in Friesland, in which PSV recorded its biggest away win in the history of the Premier League. There are still three rounds to go for PSV and number two Feyenoord. Thanks to a nine-point lead over Feyenoord and a huge difference in goal difference, the Eindhoven team can only be figured out mathematically by the Rotterdam team.
The podcast makers are full of praise for the high level that PSV again achieved against Heerenveen. They talk about the tactical insight of Luuk de Jong, the defining duo of Joey Veerman-Jerdy Schouten, the pure pleasure of Johan Bakayoko and the strong defense. Also attention is paid to the decisive role of trainer Peter Bosz and the PSV management. Rik Elfrink talks about Sergiño Dest’s serious injury. The back, who has been in top form this season, has been out of action for some time.
In the historical section, attention is paid to the special championship match of 1987. On Ascension Day, PSV won the title thanks to a 2-3 win over Excelsior. The match, in which PSV fans stormed the field en masse, strangely enough took place in the De Koel stadium of VVV-Venlo.
