The spectacles and hearing care chain Hans Anders is transferring to an American owner. Investment company KKR takes over Hans Anders’ parent company, nexeye, from British investor 3i Group.

With the deal, KKR also acquires two other eyewear chains: eyes + more and Direkt Optik. It has not been disclosed how much money the Americans will pay. Nexeye hopes to continue to grow under the wings of the new owner.

The company, including its subsidiaries, has 3,500 employees and 719 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Sweden.

Nexeye CEO Bart van den Nieuwenhof says that the organization under 3i has been strengthened in recent years. Existing stores have also been modernized and new stores opened. Furthermore, a digital innovation effort has been made. “And now we are ready to continue this growth path together with KKR.”

The American investor is known in the Netherlands as the owner of bicycle company Accell, with brands such as Sparta and Batavus. The takeover of nexeye still must be approved by regulators.
