He tells this in his afternoon show on Radio 538.
Bizarre story
How Evers noticed that something strange was going on? “About three weeks ago the maid came and said it was a mess up there: ‘The stairs are full of mud, the cushions are dirty, there are towels everywhere.’ I said: that’s not possible, because no one has slept there.”
When Evers takes a look himself, he sees nothing strange and decides to leave it at that. Until he sees something striking on the camera while he is working in his studio at night. Someone with a bicycle is standing in front of the fence looking at his house. Creepy, but nothing else happens. The radio DJ does not yet make the connection.
Until he sees something again on Thursday. “I was working in the studio, looked at the camera and saw someone I don’t know walking behind the garage. I was completely shocked. And then the penny dropped in one fell swoop.”
Police arrest at Edwin Evers’ home
The police arrest the burglar, a 43-year-old confused man from Hardenberg without shelter. Evers says: “So that guy lived there for about five weeks: slept, laid out his clothes, showered. We got upstairs and the shower was still warm. I was in complete disarray. It’s such a strange feeling having someone in your house. It is very scary.”
According to the radio DJ, it is not clear how the man just entered. He adds that the man’s situation worries him. “Why doesn’t anyone help him? Why does he have to cycle around and sleep at someone’s house? I was very angry, but not anymore. It is a very sad and pathetic story.”
We know Edwin Evers as a radio DJ. At Radio 538 he starts the weekend on Friday afternoon. In the video below, entertainment journalist Matthijs Albers explains the sadness behind him.
