The female manager who pledged millions on behalf of Coca-Cola to influencer couple Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit for promotional activities has rightly been fired. The judge ruled this this week. The ex-employee herself had gone to court to challenge her dismissal. She demanded tons of money from the soft drink giant, but was unsuccessful. For Van Dam and Smit, the ruling does not change their case: “They have no idea what happened internally at Coca-Cola.”

It was previously announced that the showbiz couple is going to court because they say they are entitled to compensation of 2 million euros. They allegedly did promotional activities for Coca-Cola, but were not paid in full for them. The key in this case is a now dismissed manager of Coca-Cola who made agreements with the two. She was investigated in September last year and fired a month later. Rightly so, said the judge.

The woman herself filed the case against Coca-Cola. She wanted the dismissal to be annulled and is demanding compensation totaling almost €900,000. She also wanted another half million in compensation for pension damage. But the judge found that the ex-employee had colored too much outside the lines. For example, she concluded agreements for which she had no authority. She also ‘fabricated’ evidence of approval for payments.

The statement once again suggests a friendly bond with Van Dam and Smit. It literally says: ‘But that [verzoekster] [naam 3] and [naam 4] (whether or not from the school yard) personally, has become sufficiently plausible. And it is certain that she did not make this known to Coca-Cola.’

‘False accusation’

Nonsense, a spokesperson for Van Dam and Smit responded to this site. “It is a false accusation and not true. It is true that Nicolette and Bas have been working with this lady for five years and that their children are the same age and go to the same school, but Nicolette and Bas were not personal friends with the manager. They have no idea what happened internally at Coca-Cola or what the manager did or whether she had the authority to do so. That is why they requested a witness hearing. Of course, they would never have done that if they had ‘colluded’ with the manager.”

The spokesperson thus points to the witness hearing that will take place in the case that Van Dam and Smit filed against Coca-Cola. “It is in the interest of everyone involved to know what happened. By listening to other employees, we find out exactly how the fork fits into the handle. A witness examination under oath could also provide clarification in this regard. And then it becomes clear that Nicolette and Bas did indeed act in good faith.”

The date on which the witness hearings will take place in the case of Van Dam and Smit against Coca-Cola has yet to be determined.
