The performance of Youp van ‘t Hek in the Royal Theater Carré went ‘completely well’ on Wednesday evening. A spokesperson for the Amsterdam theater said this. A day earlier, the comedian had to end his performance prematurely because he suffered from blackouts.
Van ‘t Hek thanked his audience after the performance. “You really helped me get through it. Thanks to the great applause at the beginning,” the 70-year-old comedian said The Telegraph. The comedian also joked about the incident. “Someone else arrives with a lantern, you probably thought: it won’t happen,” he said about late arrivals, according to the newspaper.
Van ‘t Hek is busy with his farewell tour and will also be in Carré in the coming weeks. His last performance is scheduled for May 25. Tuesday evening’s show will be caught up at a later time. According to visitors, Van ‘t Hek (70) lost the thread on Tuesday and had to briefly stop his performance several times. After an hour he returned with a text on paper from which he drew inspiration. But at a certain point he ‘really couldn’t go on anymore’.
The first half hour went ‘really well’, Van ‘t Hek was at his old-fashioned high level, visitor Maarten told this site. “Afterwards you noticed that he had to search for his text several times. He took several sips of water and disappeared backstage several times. He really tried his best to keep playing. He really wanted to, but he told us it really wasn’t possible anymore.”
