Healthy start
The royal couple is received in Hoofddorp amid loud cheers. The starting signal for the King’s Games is given for the twelfth time. But that is still just as enthusiastic. The day always starts with a healthy breakfast and the royal couple also joins the breakfast table. The king and queen sit among hundreds of students in orange outfits – and that creates nice images.

Fashion
Today Queen Máxima combines a gray woolen top with leather culottes. We last saw the purple-red culotte in 2019 in combination with an airy blouse and stiletto heels. Because of the cooler temperatures, Máxima is wearing a pair of high boots in exactly the same color as her pants under her culottes today. The queen thus shows that this item can also be worn in the spring. King Willem-Alexander wears a light blue suit with a salmon-colored tie.

Fun facts
During the King’s Games, the king and queen take the time to talk to the children and fun conversations arise. For example, King Willem-Alexander revealed in 2023 that Queen Máxima “can sing extremely well”. And in 2022 it became clear how fanatical the two are: “we are very fanatical and so are the children. When we play tennis, we go all out,” the queen said in 2022. “And then we try to be a good loser to be,” Willem-Alexander added.

King’s Games 2024
This year the King’s Games focus on the theme ‘Discover!’. Children are encouraged to try new things in terms of exercise and healthy eating. It is not without reason that the king and queen visit Hoofddorp. KBS Klippeholm has been awarded the ‘Exercise and sport’ vignette from the Healthy School. This is a quality mark for schools that actively contribute to improving the health of their students. This is achieved, among other things, by offering additional physical education and promoting healthy nutrition.
