Pia Douwes gets a leading role in the romantic theater comedy Cupcakes for Christmas. The musical is based on the low-budget Christmas films that appear annually on streaming services.
“Of Cupcakes for Christmas let’s shamelessly ignore all the clichés,” says producer Ilse van den Heuvel. “But we will certainly also add surprises.”
It was previously announced that Ferry Doedens and Stijn Fransen will play in the performance. It is directed by Marleen van der Loo.
Cupcakes for Christmas is about actress Kate (French). She has to return to her parental home on the evening of the premiere of her new romantic Christmas film because her father has died.
Kate’s mother (Douwes) and brother (Doedens) need help in the family bakery. Kate secretly considers selling the company to an international bakery chain. Kate must choose between her family, love and her film career.
The tryouts start on November 22 and the premiere is on December 2 in the Theater van C. in Hoofddorp.
