A large fireworks show and a children’s show were planned for the turn of the year. “Wind force 6 and gusts throw a spanner in the works,” says the organization in Waddinxveen. “The latest weather forecasts are so bad that it is unsafe to continue the shows. Due to the strong wind and gusts of wind, the organization cannot set off the fireworks in a safe manner.”
WeesperNieuws reports on Saturday that the fireworks show in Weesp will continue for the time being. The fireworks show in Efteling will also continue, according to a spokesperson. A combined fireworks show is held in the amusement park with lasers, light and fireworks. According to the spokesperson, the laser and light show can continue in bad weather.
Hilversum has canceled two fireworks shows for Saturday evening due to the stormy winds that are expected. These are shows at 7:30 p.m. and midnight. Mayor Gerhard van der Top is disappointed, but according to him there was no other choice. “It was of course great to be able to organize the traditional central fireworks shows on the market square again after two long corona years to celebrate the turn of the year together with the residents of Hilversum.” But he thinks the risk is too great under the bad weather conditions. In Apeldoorn, a drone and laser show is canceled because, according to the municipality, the laser beams cannot be seen due to the bad weather. A fireworks ban applies in Apeldoorn. That is why the municipality has organized three major public events. In addition to the canceled laser show, there are two fireworks shows in Apeldoorn and Uddel. According to the municipality, whether they will continue will not be decided until the end of the afternoon.
The Hague and Amsterdam
The Hague also canceled the show at the Hofvijver due to the weather. In The Hague, the traditional bonfires (Scheveningen and Duindorp) were set off on Friday as a precaution.

According to the municipality, they consist of a combination of light explosions and eco-fireworks, programmed to music. It is not yet known whether that spectacle will continue.
The municipality wants to start a new tradition for the turn of the year with the professional shows, with less damage, violence and nuisance.
Lighting consumer fireworks is prohibited in Amsterdam. It is allowed to own and buy fireworks.
