On Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2024, the Spring Concert will start at 3 p.m. in the Sint Hippolytus Church in Olterterp (near Beetsterzwaag). This Spring Concert is based on an old traditional principle, that of the master-apprentice construction. The professional main subject teachers Fie Schouten (clarinets) and Femke IJlstra (saxophones) – both affiliated with the Prince Claus Conservatoire – have put together a versatile program for clarinet and saxophone, which is played by ensembles in various compositions, consisting of themselves, bachelor’s and master’s students . They mainly play classical chamber music by contemporary composers such as Tsoupaki, Ton de Leeuw, Elliot Carter. The names of the students include: Diego Dávila, alto saxophone; Adrià Marqués, tenor saxophone; Michiel Nonhebel, vocals bass; Alicia Sanchis, soprano saxophone; Stephanie Tan, Eugene Lai, clarinet; and Chris Watt, bass clarinet.

These professional musicians teach and study at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen for their Master of Music. The Prince Claus Conservatory of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen is very connected to society in the north of the Netherlands and at the same time has an international reputation and level. Their mission is to train inspiring musicians who make a difference in our society. Under the motto ‘Share your talent. Move the world.’ the Prince Claus Conservatoire challenges its students to share their talent and passion for music with the world around them. The training includes giving concerts, which we would like to give them the opportunity to do.
