We are looking for an online editor for the RTL News app and site, based in Hilversum and your home workplace. You keep an eye on the news at home and abroad, know what kind of news is important to RTL News and ensure that we quickly have good news of our own. You collect information online, through news agencies, but also by calling and interviewing yourself. This can also be on location if something is wrong somewhere.
Our editorial staff strives for new perspectives from news hunters, born beautiful writers and analytical story makers. Do you fit one of these profiles and have you made the necessary journalistic progress? Then we are looking for you!
Your tasks:
• You actively follow the news and are responsible for the general news flow. You keep an eye on what’s happening, consult with the editors and write news articles.
• On other days you write stories that suit the target group, pitch ideas for follow-ups and there is room to create your own news stories.
• You are in close contact with the other editorial staff of RTL News.
• You are part of the online editorial team. Together with other editors, we arrive at the right journalistic questions. Then you can sink your teeth into it.
Your profile:
• You follow the news closely and enjoy reporting the latest news quickly, neutrally and accessible.
• You are communicative and textually strong.
• You have ideas about the stories we should create on the day in text or video.
• Experience writing for a news website is an advantage.
• You can work under time pressure. Switching quickly is no problem for you.
• You are available at irregular times, including weekends.

The online editorial staff employs approximately 30 online (video) editors, online reporters, a supervisor and a deputy. We collaborate a lot with the other sub-editors within RTL News. We are driven, the atmosphere is energetic and informal. Everyone is encouraged to contribute their thoughts. The online editorial team is a mix of old, young, experienced and less experienced. There is plenty of room to learn and do new things and you can often work on your own ideas. Distinguishing yourself with your own stories is an important characteristic of RTL News and therefore also of the online editorial staff.
