Eighteen years after the first edition of ‘Construction Cost Management’, AT Osborne has updated the book. The book has been expanded and amended standards have been incorporated.

Anyone who has ever opened a newspaper knows how great the challenge is: controlling the costs of a construction project. It sometimes seems to be the rule rather than the exception that budgets are significantly exceeded.

The original version of Construction Cost Management, released in 2006 by Walter Keyner and Marcel van Rosmalen, can be seen as a manual to prevent this. It explained how to optimally manage construction costs, investment costs and operating costs of housing projects.

It is now eighteen years later. So it’s high time for an update. “This book provides essential guidelines to effectively control and optimize construction project costs in complex projects,” says Wytze Brandsma, construction cost expert at AT Osborne and author of the new edition.

A wide range of topics within the construction cost chain, including scope, finance, investments, time and risks, are covered in detail in the book. With cases and practical guidelines, the book provides a manual for professionals in the construction sector.

“Standards that were changed after 2006 have been incorporated. In this renewed edition, all parts have been adapted and supplemented to the current working method. In addition, the book is extensive. It builds on AT Osborne’s long-term knowledge and experience in the field of project management and consultancy in construction,” says Brandsma.

The first copy of Construction Cost Management was presented last week to Arend Koers, director of the Dutch Association of Construction Cost Experts.

AT Osborne is one of the leading consultancy firms in the construction sector according to a benchmark.
