DRAGON – A 20-year-old scooter rider – who normally outruns the police – was caught early on Friday morning when he fell into the hands of the police near the Philips Bridge. And while there wasn’t even a police chasing him.

The young man from Drachten collided with a motorist and fell. The collision took place around 7:50 am.

Scoreboard

The young driver, who drove without a license plate, insurance, or driver’s license, uses a written system to keep track of his encounters with police: a WIN-LOSE tally.

The score on the fender of his Piaggo told the story of as many as 30 successful escapes from police checks, compared to only one previous ‘defeat’. However, after that morning’s accident, he had to add a second ‘lose’ to his special list.

Injured

The scooter rider was injured in the collision. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. The police confiscated the scooter. A brass knuckle was also found on him.

The police also say that the young man is known to the police. He regularly causes nuisance in the De Wiken district. The roller bench showed that the scooter had a maximum speed of 74 km/h.

The accident happened when the scooter rider wanted to enter Moleneind from Tjalling Wagenaarstraat. He collided with an oncoming motorist (from Oliemolenstraat).
