“The art of balance”, Autism Network North and the NVA Autism Week 2024
Autism Network Friesland, Autism Network Groningen and Autism Expertise Network Drenthe have started working intensively together from January 1, 2024 under the name Autism Network North. With this bundling it wants to make a lasting contribution to an inclusive society. A society in which everyone is equal. Where people with autism of all intelligence levels can participate freely and fully in all areas of life to the best of their ability.
Unfortunately, this is not (yet) possible for many people with autism. There is still much to be gained here. Individuals and organizations cannot do this alone. This requires connection under the motto ‘sharing instead of dividing’. Movement creates movement. Autism Network North is a platform for this movement; a flywheel for connection, (inter)sectoral meeting, mutual reinforcement and for bundling scientific, professional and experiential knowledge. The annual Autism Week is a moment when that connection and movement becomes clearly visible.
Autism Week 2024
The annual NVA Autism Week starts again on March 30, with this year’s theme ‘The Art of Balance’. Life has become intensive, stimulating and sensitive to balance disturbances in many areas. Especially for people with autism, the impact of a change is much greater for them, with disruption and long-term stuckness as a risk. If things go less well in one of the important areas of life, this often has far-reaching consequences for the other areas. The trick then is to prevent the balance from being permanently disturbed – the art of balance.
During the NVA Autism Week 2024, the Dutch Association for Autism (NVA) draws a lot of attention to ‘The art of balance’. Regional departments of the association organize numerous activities on this subject during this week, of course in relation to autism. This also applies to the Autism Network North. A large number of its partners are organizing a variety of activities from March 30 to April 6 that are about seeking, finding and maintaining balance.
