An 84-year-old motorist from Rotterdam was caught in various ways on Easter Monday in Sprang-Capelle. He drove his car down an embankment, was not authorized to be behind the wheel at all and appeared not to have used prohibited substances for the first time in his life. The first test indicates cocaine and amphetamine use. There is a chance that he will not get his car back.
The Rotterdammer got himself into trouble by losing control of his car on the Bevrijdingsweg in Sprang-Capelle. He then drove off the slope. The alerted police asked him for his driver’s license: it had already been declared invalid by the RDW two years ago because he could no longer drive well enough.
“We took blood from him.”
He thought he could fool police officers with a self-made plasticized driver’s license B, but they didn’t fall for it on April 1st. It turned out that he was not allowed to get behind the wheel for another reason. The saliva test taken by the police indicated that the man had cocaine and amphetamine in his body. “That is a first indication. We took blood at the station to be sure what he had,” says a spokesperson. The man himself said that he had taken medicine for his heart. His blood results are not yet in.
The action earned the man a report. And because he did not drive without a driver’s license for the first time, his car was seized. It will be decided later what will happen with this.
