DEN BOSCH – A woman from Den Bosch was arrested on Tuesday for her involvement in the assassination attempt on Spanish politician Alejo-Vidal Quadras (79) in November. According to the Public Prosecution Service, she financed and prepared the attack to her credit. The politician was shot in the face on November 9, but miraculously survived. The woman was arrested in the Netherlands on the basis of a European arrest warrant, Spanish media report. According to the Brabants Dagblad, it concerns a resident of Den Bosch, where she was arrested.

She is accused of, among other things, financing and preparing the assassination attempt. Vidal-Quadras was reportedly shot in the head by an assassin on November 9. He narrowly escaped the attack in Madrid and was able to recover. The politician was attacked by a man who arrived on a motorcycle with an accomplice. Four suspects have previously been arrested in Spain and Colombia in connection with the assassination attempt. The shooter, Mehrez A., is still wanted. The woman is said to have connections with this A’s brother.

Vidal-Quadras was one of the founders of VOX, a conservative nationalist party that split from the Partido Popular (PP). The party is considered far-right and anti-Islamic, and openly supports the opposition in Iran. According to the Brabants Dagblad, this could also be the motive behind the attack.
