As a precaution, NS will temporarily close 24 of the 42 ATMs at train stations, including Bijlmer Arena and Sloterdijk. This is in response to the recent bombings at Zuid station and Delft station. The measure will only leave ATMs at the four major stations, including Amsterdam Central Station.

The vending machines in question have already been closed and emptied. At a later date, NS and GWK Travelex, owner of the machines, will decide whether machines can be reopened, possibly with additional safety measures.

The service desk was severely damaged during the bombing at Zuid station last month. Due to the crack, no trains passed through the station for hours. A week ago there was significant damage after the bombing at Delft station.

Major stations and Schiphol

The measure means that money can only be withdrawn at Amsterdam Central Station, Utrecht Central Station, Rotterdam Central Station and The Hague Central Station. Money can also be withdrawn at Schiphol, as it is not an NS station.

The NS temporarily closed 28 ATMs in 2021 following an explosive burglary at Apeldoorn station. A number of them were moved last year, reopened with extra safety measures or closed permanently.
