Utrecht University and Hogeschool call on students to remove banga list

--

Both Utrecht University (UU) and Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (HU) are calling for the so-called chick presentation, or banga list, to be removed. All students at both institutions have received this ‘urgent request’ by email.

Last month there was a lot of commotion due to a 32-page document entitled Griet’s presentation for the year 23′. The presentation contains dozens of pages about female students with offensive and sexually offensive texts written. There is also a separate chapter in which women are mentioned who are not ‘popular’. It contains photos, addresses and telephone numbers.

This banga list caused quite a stir. The makers, all members of the Utrechtsch Studenten Corps (USC), have now been employed for a period of 1.5 years. suspended. In addition, they are too suspects in an investigation by the Public Prosecution Service and there are sanctions imposed on the student association.

Request

The list is still circulating and the victims have asked through the boards of directors of the HU and UU to share their call for the list to be removed. “We take it for granted that we respond to that demand. This situation requires a strong signal that we do not accept this behavior, which is why we have decided to take the exceptional step of emailing all students, in addition to our previous messages and sanctions towards USC.”

The email that students from both educational institutions received includes the following: “We appeal to you to contact others who have the list(s). Although the suffering caused to the students is irreversible, as educational institutions we want to contribute in this way to the feeling of safety of the affected students.”
