GP dismissed from profession for raping patients

A 55-year-old general practitioner from Brunssum, Limburg, is never allowed to practice his work again because he raped several patients. He convinced them that what he was doing was medically necessary. He has been removed from his profession and is no longer allowed to work in care for vulnerable patients. The Disciplinary Board for Healthcare in Den Bosch determined this on Wednesday.

The man was sentenced on appeal last month to seven years in prison for several rapes. The court also banned him from practicing for fourteen years.

The Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate received seven reports of inappropriate behavior by the man between 2017 and last year. After the first complaint he had already been suspended once. It then turned out that he had made a mistake again. For example, during physical examinations he inserted his fingers into the victims’ vaginas. At least two victims were over 80 years old.

The man himself has always maintained that he has done nothing wrong, but the disciplinary board and the court do not believe that.
