The North-East Business Association (VBNO) advocates keeping the Kardinge Ice Rink. The ice rink, which has been a central sports facility in the Kardinge area since 1993, may be closed due to a lack of financing from the municipality of Groningen.

Guus Vries, chairman of VBNO, emphasizes the importance of the ice rink for both the local economy and for the well-being of the community: “The Kardinge Ice Rink is not only a sporting attraction, but also a vital part of our area and our economy. It is a place where young and old come together for sports and recreation. We cannot afford to lose this facility in the Kardinge area. Together we can ensure that this essential provision is preserved for future generations. The aim should be to build the most sustainable and energy-neutral ice rink in the Netherlands together with knowledge partners,” says Vries.
