EM2 has an alternative King’s Day programming on April 27 under the name Royaal Kabaal.

EM2 is presenting a live music program with The Monroes, from Groningen, and the Hague alternative rock phenomenon Hallo Venray.

Then you can dance until the later hours at a Ruigh and Vuigh dance party. An after with obscure Rock and swinging Roll by DJ Musquito, also known from the good ol’ days of De Kar.

Hello Venray

Hello Venray isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. No band older than 35 knows how to keep the soul in rock ‘n’ roll burning so convincingly. See them live a hundred times and you will see a different performance a hundred times. And never even an ounce less. Classic albums such as The More I laugh, The Hornier Due Gets! brought Hallo Venray to the all-powerful Pinkpop.

An album like Show just as easily secured a podium spot on the idiosyncratic Le Guess Who? Festival. While a recent album like Where Is The Funky Party? perhaps the most important thing of all; keeping the band – and therefore its loyal followers – alive and kicking.

The Monroes

The Monroes have already spent many hours in their studio and van. The musical journey of this Groningen Americana/Surf/Garage band has been going on for 21 years.

They have been working for a few years on the upcoming third album “Scrapyard Songs” on which they try to find the perfect balance between the sultry songs of singer/guitarist Josje and the fuzzy guitar sound of singer/guitarist Arnold.

With Josje Kobès on vocals & guitar, Arnold Nieborg also on vocals & guitar, Fiona van Gelder (Fiona Jane Pop) on bass & vocals and Arnoud Herder on drums.

Info and maps

EM2 is open from 6 p.m. for food & drinks. Start The Monroes 8 p.m., start Hallo Venray 9 p.m., afterparty 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
