King’s Day 2024: Program overview in the neighborhoods

Free markets and other festive activities are being organized in various neighborhoods in Groningen, Haren and Ten Boer today on King’s Day.

Below an overview:

Outside court

A festive parade starts at 10 a.m. in the neighborhood behind a drum band. The route is from Fivelgolaan even, Duurswoldlaan, Humsterlandlaan, Ubbegalaan, Fivelgolaan odd. Afterwards there will be a free market on the playing field of Speeltuin Buitenhof.

Three countries

Waterland will also be orange again this year. There is a flea market on the Waterland square, there are various games and food and drinks. The party is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hoornse meer

Free market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on S. Allendeplein.

The Hunze

A special King’s Day celebration for children will take place on the playing field on Berlageweg from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The day starts with a children’s parade with a drum band, followed by the children’s free market. There is also a bouncy castle, talent show and music.

Lewenborg – Lichtboei Oranjefeest

A flea market, live music, musical chairs and delicacies. As usual, King’s Day can be celebrated at the Lichtboei between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Three countries

Around Waterland, Drielanden celebrates King’s Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lewenborg shopping center

Lewenborg shopping center offers a flea market and children’s entertainment from 9 a.m.

Oosterhoogebrug/Ulgersmaborg

A neighborhood party is in the Beukemazaal of Wijkcentrum de Schakel.

Helpman

A children’s free market can be visited on Groenesteinlaan from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vinkhuizen

There is a free market in the Diamant Park in the Vinkhuizen district from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be live music, children’s activities and food.

Paddepoel shopping center

The Paddepoel shopping center offers fun activities all day long. There is the Play-Doh event, a meet & greet with Princess Elsa & Anna from Frozen. There is also walking music and children can have their faces painted.

Oranjebuurt

There is a free market on Nassauplein in the Oranjebuurt from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can also ride ponies and have their faces painted and a DJ provides the music. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase before the trek.

Meerstad

Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. there is a dress market for children under the awnings of the Jumbo. Furthermore, the decorate your bike competition and the annual most beautiful street trophy will take place. https://dorpsbelangenmeerstad.nl/koningsdag/

Hoogkerk

A festive King’s Day is celebrated in Hoogkerk with a flea market and fair, music and children’s activities between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Hair

There is a flea market in the center of Haren between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. There is also a fair and music and an Orange concert in the evening.

Ten Boer

There is a children’s free market on Dorplein and Valckestraat in Ten Boer. There is also a catering square, bouncy castle and free face painting and children can do crafts.
