Roosendaal ‘ghost villa’ that has been a thorn in the side of local residents for years has caught fire | Domestic

--

A fire broke out in the infamous ‘ghost villa’ on the Robijndijk in Roosendaal on Sunday evening. It is not known how the fire broke out, as the villa has been vacant since 2018. Local residents see the villa as an eyesore.

The fire brigade was alerted around 9.30 pm and arrived on site with two fire engines and an aerial platform. The fire has been extinguished. It is not known what the damage is.

The villa is best known for its connection with a major international drug case. According to the judiciary, the villa purchased in 2012 was paid for with criminal money. The villa has been empty since 2018, but young people have enjoyed taking a look at the stately building every now and then for years.

When two young people sneaked into the villa in 2022, the alarm went off and the boys were abused for hours by two men and a woman. Their motive was never revealed.
