Lex Immers, former player of ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord, is emigrating with his family to Malaga, Spain. His trainer confirms this to this site. Immers has been playing for SVV Scheveningen since 2021, which plays in the second division. The midfielder leaves for Spain with his wife and three children.

The Immers family had been considering leaving the Netherlands for some time, they said in a statement on Instagram. “But we didn’t dare to do it until my brother-in-law and sister-in-law changed our minds,” says the Immers family. They are now ‘really going to take the step’ and move to ‘Spain-Malaga’, mainly because of the climate.

Lex Immers and his wife Kelly have three children: a 17-year-old son and two daughters aged 14 and 7. ‘There are many Dutch people there, which gives us a kind of feeling of home, also for the children in terms of employment and social contacts.’ Their two daughters will go to Spanish schools and their son will work in Malaga.

Sold house in the Netherlands

Immers will first rent a house in Malaga for a year with his family, ‘so that they can get their bearings’ where they ultimately want to settle. Their house in the Netherlands was sold within two weeks, they report. It is not yet known when they will finally leave. The midfielder could not be reached for comment on Monday morning.

In any case, Immers will finish the season at SVV Scheveningen, reports coach John Blok. Blok was previously informed of Immers’ plans. “He is indeed leaving us, continuing to play on travel expenses became a bit crazy,” his head coach jokes.

“It was also surprising news for us when he said it,” Blok continues. “It’s incredibly unfortunate. But he explained it to me and I completely understand this step. We would have liked to enjoy him longer, but that will all change now.”

When Immers permanently leaves the club depends on when he finds a home there, says Blok. “But it is clear that we will miss him. He is not only extremely important on the field, but also outside of it. One of the leading figures is now leaving us.”

Immers also worked in the youth team of ADO Den Haag. It is not yet known what his departure means for that employment. ADO will provide a response later today. In addition to Feyenoord and ADO, the midfielder played for Cardiff City, Club Brugge and NAC Breda, among others. It is not yet known whether he will look for a new club in Spain.
