At the end of 2023, the municipality of Stichtse Vecht was about to say goodbye to the operator Sports Funds for the management of the Maarssense Safari. Instead, a ‘Joint Venture’ would be set up. However, these plans have been delayed. This means that the agreement with Sports Funds has been extended until January 1, 2025, which means that the operation of the Safari will continue for the time being and visitors and users of the facilities can continue to exercise and exercise. An information committee, organized by the registry, previously held a presentation on the future operation of the sports facilities. The municipality has indicated that it has a preference for a ‘Joint Venture’. If the council chooses this option, a BV will be established in which the municipality of Stichtse Vecht is a 50% shareholder. The development of this new form of exploitation takes more time than expected: ‘The development of some parts takes more time and is expected to be ready in the second quarter of 2024. The full development is expected in the third quarter,’ according to the municipality of Stichtse Vecht . It is not yet clear whether this Joint Venture will have financial consequences.

If everything goes according to plan, this new form of exploitation will start on January 1, 2025. The municipality of Stichtse Vecht: ‘Sports funds have declared themselves prepared to continue operations until then. Visitors and users of our facilities can continue to exercise and exercise. All parties involved have been informed about the extension until January 1, 2025.’
