Be active and exercise! Sports hall Galecop at Aert de Gelderhage 7 opens its doors for children with disabilities on Monday, May 6. Brothers and sisters are also very welcome to play. This day lasts from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and admission is free. Registration is required via the SportID Nieuwegein website.

‘Enjoyable sports are important for all children’, says Renata de Jesus, youth worker at Movactor. ‘It is educational, fun and good for our body. There are not many options in Nieuwegein for children with disabilities. While they also love playing, dancing and moving with friends.’

Wish from the Parent Contact Group
The wish for this sports afternoon arose from the Parent Contact Group, an initiative set up by the Youth Work of Movactor and Steunpunt Mantelzorg. Renata: ‘We have set up the Parent Contact Group to hear from parents themselves what they need. They indicated that they wanted a space where their children could enjoy sports in a small class. So that it is not only nice for children with a physical disability, but also for children who, for example, have difficulty processing stimuli.’

Register for Sports and Games Day!
During this Sports and Games Day, the children have plenty of space to move with different materials in the sports hall in a small class. This activity is organized by Movactor Youth Work in collaboration with SportID. Register here for 1 of the 3 time blocks on the SportID Vakantiegames website.
