Formula 1 will also be shown on Viaplay for the next five years. The Scandinavian streaming service has renewed its agreement with Formula One Management. In addition, the collaboration with F1 TV Pro in the Netherlands will be extended.

Five million fans watch Formula 1 in the Netherlands. Half of these fans have started following this sport in the past five years.

Each weekend attracts an average of 70 million viewers. In 2023, a total of 1.5 billion people worldwide were watching. The sport’s fan base is becoming increasingly younger and more diverse: 40% of fans are women, and one in three TV viewers is under 35. In 2023, Formula 1 was the fastest growing sport in the world on social media for the fourth year in a row.

Roger Lodewick, CEO Viaplay Netherlands, says enthusiastically: “We are very proud that Formula 1 will also be part of our Viaplay offering for the next five years. The sport was an important part of the launch of Viaplay in the Netherlands. Now, two and a half years later, we have a great team, a varied and high-quality product and a bright future ahead.”

“With our new local organizational structure, we are now even better able to respond to the needs of the Dutch audience and to anchor Viaplay even better in the Dutch media landscape,” said Lodewick.
