European Championship 2024: Who will the Netherlands play against?
Fortunately, the Netherlands is not in the ‘group of death’, group B. This group consists of Spain, Albania, Croatia and Italy, with three traditionally strong teams competing against each other. If that doesn’t get exciting! The Dutch team itself has been placed in group B by the draw in 2023. The opponents for the European Football Championship in Germany are (in that order): Poland, France and Austria.
- Poland have had a checkered history in the European Championship, peaking in 2016 when they reached the quarter-finals. So it will be an exciting first match.
- France is one of the strongest teams in Europe. The country won the European Championship in 2000 and reached the final of the European Football Championship in 2016.
- Austria often struggles to get far at the European Championships, and has rarely survived the group stage. |That therefore offers opportunities for the Netherlands, although our men must of course always remain vigilant for unexpected moves.
