Margot Robbie unveils ‘genital room’ on Wolf of Wall Street set

Margot Robbie has on the radio show Fitzy & Wippa shared an obscure fact about nudity in Hollywood. The 32-year-old Australian actress can now be seen in cinemas with Babylon (2022), but also looks back The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). “A whole room full Merkins.”

In Babylon (2022) stars Margot Robbie with Brad Pitt, in The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio. There are lesser actors as opponents, but it is Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio who can squeeze their hands to face her.

Margot about Babylon: ‘Insensitivity to nudity’

The fact is that there is quite a bit of explicit nudity in both films. How do you deal with that in these times, asked the hosts of Fitzy & Wippa. Margot Robbie succinctly: “To be honest, you quickly become desensitized to all that nudity”.

Babylon set in 1920s Hollywood. The comedy-drama is full of functional nudity. “When you’re making a historical film, it’s often quite difficult to find women with real breasts and pubic hair, I hear,” adds Margot Robbie. Which then brings her to a bridge to The Wolf of Wall Street.

Margot Robbie was one of many women in The Wolf of Wall Street with nude scenes, even though director Martin Scorsese gave her the option to tone it down. But she persevered herself. “Naked for the sake of nudity is disgusting to me. But it also irritates me when nudity is forcibly omitted when it is relevant,” the actress continues.

Functional nudity

Just like in Babylon finds Margot Robbie in the nude scenes The Wolf of Wall Street functional. “The whole point of my character Naomi is that her body is her only form of currency in this world. In a scene where she seduces Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), Scorsese offered that the scene could also be bathrobed. But I refused. I thought she should be naked. She puts her cards on the table in that scene.”
