[BLOG van woe 17 april, nu weer actueel door hetzelfdenieuws’ van het AD en De Telegraaf twee weken later] Well, we can stop speculating where Uncle Gijs, Neef Staverman, who yesterday confidently announced that he had offered his resignation to the KRO-NCRV at NPO Radio 2, will now show his skills: at Radio 10. But the place for which he asked will raise many eyebrows: the most successful Radio 10 program, the afternoon show Somertijd with Rob van Someren and his team. Are you serious? Yes, that’s what I hear, from three reliable sources. And oh oh what a stupid mistake that would be, I’ll explain why.

A scenario seems to be repeating itself at Radio 10 that also started the demise of Radio Veronica about ten years ago: replacing Rob van Someren with an equally well-known name, but without much humor with a completely different atmosphere and style. . That then became Jeroen van Inkel and now Gijs Staverman seems to be taking care of the afternoon show. Great hit radio jock but no personality and/or joke teller. I understand that they have to do something at Talpa’s 10 when Rob leaves, but this doesn’t seem to be the first choice. They must have spoken to Eddy Keur first, there is no other way. He didn’t want to, despite his warm ties with John de Mol, so they ended up with Staverman. My God, I wonder what will happen to Radio 10’s market share if this becomes the scenario and Gerard Ekdom also leaves and is replaced by Lex Gaarthuis.

Why Van Someren is looking for an exit has been going on for at least a year: he has conducted a number of legal cases against Talpa radio about a bonus not received and wanted to become the boss at Radio 10, where, after the departure of Roland Snoeijer to Qmusic, they still have no direct final responsibility. to sit. He is not granted that at Radio 10, so he looks further and ends up with the largest investor in the radio field in the Netherlands at the moment: the Flemish Mediahuis. They own, among others, Radio Veronica and 100%NL. They have already recruited Ekdom, Goes and van ‘t Hof for the first one and it is also clear to them that there is more growth in 100%NL. So Van Someren will most likely be allowed to play boss there and continue his afternoon show.

Van Someren himself already hinted at it in his afternoon show yesterday, by playing a homemade jingle at the start of Somertijd after Radio GaGa with the text ‘The NCRV is not having it’. If this all continues like this, it could turn into a disaster scenario for 10, just like then with Veronica. Rob brings a lot of fans with him wherever he goes. He is the figurehead, the ambassador for the radio brand, even more than Ekdom. The only thing they can do at 10 is to quickly sit down with Gordon again, let him do the afternoon show and let Staverman safely fire his no brainers at the listeners between 2 and 4 p.m. This is like having Paul de Leeuw succeeded by Frits Sissing.
