EINDHOVEN – A flight attendant of a foreign airline stepped off the plane with one drink too much on Sunday morning. The man had 0.12 promille more alcohol in his blood than is allowed for airline personnel.

He fell through the basket during an alcohol check by agents of the Aviation Control team at Eindhoven Airport.

The flight of the drinking steward had just landed in Eindhoven when he was checked. The breathalyzer measured 140 µg of alcohol in his breath, which equates to 0.32 promille alcohol in the blood.

However, people who work in aviation may only have a promille of 0.2 in their blood. And staff must have had their last sip of alcohol ten hours before a flight.

Expensive joke

According to the police, the outcome of the check means that the flight attendant boarded the plane under the influence. An expensive joke for the man: he has to pay a fine of 1000 euros.

At Eindhoven Airport, 123 alcohol checks were performed on pilots and cabin crew on Sunday.
