Numerous experts and five dogs are combing the area where a skull of the 2-year-old boy who had been missing for nine months was found on Saturday. The newspaper Le Parisien writes that a hiker found Emile’s skull on Saturday afternoon. It shows bite marks, probably caused by animals when the boy had already died.
T-shirt, underwear and shoes
There are also said to be small fractures and cracks in the skull, which, like the bite marks, occurred after his death.
The T-shirt, underpants and shoes that the toddler wore on the day of his disappearance, July 8 last year, have also been found in the area. The garments were spread over several tens of meters.
Located outside for a longer period of time
It is not clear whether Emile’s body has been in the same place all this time. Previous searches have not combed the area where his skull was found, but the hiker who found him on Saturday says he walked in the same spot a month earlier and saw nothing.
It is also not clear what the boy’s cause of death is. He may have fallen, but could also have been the victim of murder or manslaughter. This cannot be determined based on the bones found, the public prosecutor says. However, it can be deduced from the find that Emile was not buried and his body was ‘exposed to meteorological conditions, especially bad weather’ for a long time. Which means it’s been outside for a long time.
Emile disappeared from his grandfather and grandmother’s garden in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet at the beginning of July. Hundreds of volunteers searched for the boy for days, as seen in this video:
