The fourth stage of La Vuelta Femenina, full of fans, gave Marianne Vos mixed feelings. The leader of Visma | Lease a Bike missed out on her second stage victory of the week in Zaragoza, but captured the leader’s jersey with her third place.

Vos managed to finish third in the stage results and won an intermediate sprint along the way, allowing her to pass Blanka Kata Vas in the general classification thanks to bonuses. The experienced Dutch now has a five-second lead over the Hungarian in the rankings. “It was not the main goal today, but it is of course always nice to ride in the leader’s jersey,” Vos responds.

The stage victory was therefore not possible, because it went to Kristen Faulkner. After a tough fan ride, her attack proved successful more than five kilometers from the finish. “It was good to see that Riejanne Markus and Sophie von Berswordt were also in the front group when the decisive selection took place. The three of us rode well, but unfortunately one person turned out to be too strong. Faulkner is the deserved winner,” said Vos.
