A number of horses broke loose in central London on Wednesday morning. Several people were injured. All horses have now been captured, the London police report.

According to the newspaper TheTelegraph it concerned horses of the Household Cavalry that stampeded during exercises on Horse Guards Parade.

The British newspaper writes that a total of five horses have been seen, including at the famous Tower Bridge and The Strand. One of the horses was said to have been covered in blood.

It is unclear exactly what happened. According to TheTelegraph a horse spooked during exercise near Buckingham Palace and crashed into a car. The rider, a British soldier, was reportedly injured.

The BBC writes that the police received a report at 9.25 am (Dutch time) that someone had fallen from a horse. Shortly afterwards, the police informed X that it was aware of “a number” of out-of-control horses in the city.

TheTelegraph writes that in addition to the soldier, four more people were injured at various locations in the British capital.

At 11:30 am (Dutch time), London police reported that all horses had been captured. They are handed over to the army.
