Isn’t that what they also said about the iPad and the iPhone?

Undoubtedly, pessimism is always good. However, these things were also said about things that never (really) got off the ground.

But for a normal amount, a next version that is AND affordable AND comfortable, can be a nice alternative for certain people. It just depends on what it replaces.

And whether it is actually more accessible. Because in my opinion that is the biggest problem with VR glasses for business purposes: It is never really more accessible than any alternative. There are countless very cool examples of what is more fun, more beautiful or in some ways better to do in VR than in a more ‘traditional’ way. In practice, this takes a lot of work, and therefore a lot of money, to achieve.

If this is just as good a meeting as sitting together in a room, you should then consider what this yields in terms of productivity and saves costs and emissions. Hotemetites who don’t have to fly everywhere. That can make a huge difference.

It’s just not worth much until everyone has it. Covid has shown that many industries can easily view their work remotely and despite the fact that (fortunately) quite a bit of it has stuck, there are many companies that have rushed back to ‘the old normal’ and that was not because the right VR glasses had not yet been released.

That (I would even say just that one) “hotemetoten” want very often those outings, looking each other in the eye, etc. All those “soft” arguments that are used to get people back on location, even those who would actually prefer not to, are not refuted by (better) VR glasses .

I think there should be much higher thresholds for this face to face meeting, meeting in a virtual space really wants to get off the ground. The question is whether they will really come, until then I don’t give Apple much chance to really get the Vision Pro widely marketed as a business device.
