New video shows signs of life from two Israeli hostages | War Israel and Hamas

--

A video of two hostages has been published in Israel. According to Israeli media, it is a Hamas propaganda video. The hostages’ relatives have confirmed the identities of the two.

According to the families, the victims are Omri Miran and Keith Siegel. The video is the first sign of life after 204 days of captivity, the statement said. In addition to Israeli nationality, Siegel also has an American passport. He was taken with his wife Aviva on October 7. She was released last November.

It is not known when the video was made, but Siegel mentions in his message about the celebration of Passover, the festival that commemorates the liberation of the Jews from Egyptian slavery. Passover started on April 22 this year. This may indicate that the video is recent.

According to the families involved, the video shows that the government must do everything it can to reach a deal that will secure the release of all hostages. An estimated 129 hostages are still being held in Gaza. It is unclear how many of them are still alive. Anti-government demonstrations took place in many Israeli cities on Saturday.

Hamas considers Israel proposal

Hamas said earlier on Saturday that the group had received and would study the latest Israeli counter-proposal regarding a possible ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages.

A truce is being negotiated between Israel and Hamas in the Qatari capital Doha. Diplomats from Qatar and Egypt mediate in this.

Israeli officials are said to have told mediating Egyptian colleagues that they are willing to give negotiations with Hamas over the exchange of hostages and prisoners “one last chance”. If negotiations still fail, the Israelis will continue their invasion of Rafah, in southern Gaza.
