The Mertens family from Rosmalen has received dozens of tips about where father Rien’s white Nissan Evalia could be located. The car has been missing for eleven days, since Rien parked the Nissan somewhere in Utrecht and he can no longer remember where. After this became known, the entire city seemed to join in the search.
UPDATE: Rien’s car has now been found
Several Utrecht districts have now been excluded, but the car has not yet been found, RTV Utrecht reports.
Rien Mertens left for Utrecht by car from his hometown of Rosmalen on Thursday morning, April 18. There he parked the Nissan and cycled (7 kilometers) to an appointment in the center. He often does this to save on the high parking costs in the center.
Short-term memory deteriorates
After his appointment, Rien cycled back, but he could no longer remember where he had parked his car. “My father’s short-term memory is deteriorating,” explains son Evan. “But it is the first time he has not been able to find the car.”
The family has already searched various parts of the city. Since Sunday, the districts of Hoograven, Lunetten, Westraven, Kanaleneiland, Papendorp, Galecop and part of Zuilenstein have been combed. But still without results.
Too many tips to keep track of
Many people on social media are concerned about the missing car. Many messages are shared about where the car could be. “Many tips are also coming in about possible locations, but there are too many to keep track of,” says Evan.
Someone even says they are willing to search for the car with their drone. Others wonder if the car has not been stolen.
Evan asks people who are going to search to let him know which places they have searched. It concerns a white Nissan Evalia with license plate S-367-VK.
