Google Play Store lets users download two apps at once | Tweakers

--

Google now allows users to download several apps at the same time via its app store. Previously, apps were installed one by one. It is not yet possible to install more than two apps at the same time.

Google will release the option on a large scale for Android users on Monday, a technology site discovered 9to5Google. Also from tests of Tweakers It turns out that it is now possible to download two Play Store apps at the same time. If an attempt is made to install a third app, it will remain in the queue until one of the other two apps finishes downloading. By comparison, iPhone users have been able to download three App Store apps at once for years.

For now, it is only possible to install two new apps at the same time. Updates to apps, which are much more common, are still being done one at a time. It is also not possible to update an app and download two other apps at the same time.

In March, the existence of these parallel downloads was already discovered in the source code of the Play Store. It then also emerged that Google had set a limit of a maximum of two simultaneous downloads. It was possible to increase this number to five in the code. However, users cannot increase the limit themselves. It is unclear whether Google plans to set a higher limit over time. The company itself has not yet released anything about the parallel downloads.
