About sixty thousand people come to the Goffert on Monday and Tuesday for the two performances by the German metal band Rammstein. The last major event in the park, that of Red Hot Chili Peppers in June, caused traffic chaos in some places as roads silted up. That has to change, concluded the municipality of Nijmegen in the evaluation.

Soon after the evaluation there was therefore the advice to Rammstein fans: come on time. Take into account large crowds between 5 pm and 8 pm, the municipality of Nijmegen repeated via social media before the weekend. It is especially busy on the Neerbosscheweg, Energieweg, Van Boetbergweg and Wijchenseweg.

In various Telegram groups, including Boeren in Opstand, farmers are called upon to ‘close’ the Netherlands. The farmers are calling on Schiphol, Eindhoven Airport, the ports of Rotterdam, all distribution centers for food and all major polluters in the Netherlands, among others, to be blocked. Foreman Bart Kemp of Agractie calls on his colleagues to take action ‘as long and as often as necessary’. He says there is unrest and spontaneous actions all over the country.

It is still unclear how big the farmers’ protest in Nijmegen and the surrounding area will be. In Groesbeek, a few farmers drive to the town hall of Berg en Dal on Monday evening to drink coffee with mayor Mark Slinkman, says board member Chris Poelen of ZLTO Rijk van Nijmegen. “But that is public-friendly. There will probably be a few tractors on the road, but the place at the town hall has already been reserved.”
