ENSCHEDE – The Public Prosecution Service (OM) is personally prosecuting Strukton owner Gerard Sanderink for ‘de facto leading the bribery of officials’ of a Saudi prince. It reports that Financial Newspaper Friday. According to the FD, the suspicions against Sanderink of bribery have been confirmed by his lawyer Acda.
The now deceased Prince Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is said to have awarded Strukton a €1 billion contract for a metro project in Riyadh in exchange for bribes, it is suspected. In addition to Sanderink, the judiciary also wants to bring two former board members of Strukton and the companies Strukton Civiel and Strukton International to court in the same case.

In February 2019, the Fiod raided Strukton and a number of board members at home, including Sanderink, to seize evidence. Then it was quiet for a long time. It now appears that the judiciary is striving to actually bring the case to court in one to two years.
According to Sanderink’s lawyer Acda, the Twente entrepreneur is disappointed about the serious suspicion of bribery and forgery. “Honesty is a core value for Sanderink. He would never want to be involved in matters that are now being blamed on him.”
New blow
It is another blow for the 74-year-old entrepreneur. Sanderink has been under fire for years about the performance of Rian van Rijbroek within his company Centric. Sanderink has also conducted a series of lawsuits against his former partner Brigitte van Egten. In those cases, he was eventually sentenced to pay 1.9 million euros in penalties.
