Alex Kroes is immediately back at Ajax in the role of titular technical director of the Amsterdam football club, Ajax announced on Wednesday afternoon. Kroes will therefore not return as general manager, which he previously was, but as technical director. As long as the investigation by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets is ongoing, he will be titular director.
Kroes was suspended by the supervisory board because he allegedly traded with insider information. But big news on Wednesday afternoon, because the commissioners have reversed this decision. Kroes returns as technical director in Amsterdam.

Kroes responds to his return to Ajax. “I am very happy that we have found a suitable solution. That together we have put the interests of Ajax and football first. The focus at Ajax must be on football again. We need everyone’s support to end this season as best as possible. At the same time, we will work together decisively for the new season.”
Encouraging words from Kroes about the club where he is working again. “It is high time that all forces within and around the club unite as one Ajax and bundle all the knowledge and skills that exist among the Ajax people. I look forward to building a bright future for Ajax not only with Louis van Gaal, Danny Blind, Marijn Beuker and Kelvin de Lang, but with everyone around them. Ajax must become Ajax again.”
Michael van Praag also responds to the news about Kroes. “We are not deaf to the sounds around us and have spoken extensively in recent weeks with people inside and outside Ajax, including the supervisory board and of course with Alex himself. Naturally, conditions have been agreed that have made this change possible. The club must move forward and we think it is good for Ajax that we have ultimately arrived at this solution together.”
