If foreign clubs offer more than 60 million euros for , PSV should sell him immediately, according to René and Willy van de Kerkhof. However, both PSV icons believe that the club should not sell too many players and that the ashes should be retained for next season.

PSV won 0-8 against SC Heerenveen on Thursday evening, making the Eindhoven team unofficial champions of the Netherlands. With three games left to play, nine points ahead of number two Feyenoord and a goal difference difference of thirty, it is almost impossible that this will go wrong for Peter Bosz’s team. In conversation with The Telegraph the Van de Kerkhof brothers say they have enjoyed this season. “There is no doubt that we have the strongest team this year, Peter Bosz has really done a fantastic job,” says René. “He has conveyed his way of playing football wonderfully. I have never seen such a good PSV, and this applies to the first half of the season, apart from our team of 1978 and 1988, which won the European Cup.”

After a fantastic season, it is expected that there will be offers for PSV players from abroad. Willy expects several players to leave. “Maintaining success is the most difficult thing there is. And there will be interest in our players. It is almost impossible to keep players on board when big clubs from abroad come knocking. If we can sell Johan Bakayoko for 60 or 70 million euros, I will personally take him away.” René agrees with his brother: “Smart it and get away for such amounts.” Willy mentions two players that the upcoming national champion should certainly not sell. “PSV really shouldn’t let Jerdy Schouten and Joey Veerman go. If you still have an axis next year with Schouten, Veerman and Luuk de Jong, the club will do great again. And PSV must strengthen its defense.”

According to Willy, the latter player is truly invaluable. “De Jong is the most important player in the team. Not only because he scores a lot and is captain, but he works tirelessly, is everywhere on the field and sets a good example for the team. He has now scored as many goals in the Eredivisie as Sjaak Swart.” The two gentlemen regularly call the Ajax icon, for example to harass him. When the team from Amsterdam were bottom earlier this season, the Van de Kerkhof brothers did the same. “Then Sjaak responded with: ‘Crap Kerkhof, get out.’ A bit of humor is part of it.” The brothers have had to be patient in recent years, Willy also says. “A club like PSV should of course never become champions for five years in a row. That’s just way too long.”
