The way Antony made it 1-0 was something typical for this Saturday afternoon of Manchester United. Half falling, struggling, he got just enough power behind the ball to slide it past the keeper. The special way of cheering – with a Sonic cuddly toy in his hands above his head – was typical of Antony, who had been maligned in the 79 minutes before by missing many great opportunities.

Even more typical of this Manchester United: they also gave away the late lead. André Onana kept well, but almost knocked out a Burnley player in the final phase in an attempt to block a cross. The VAR intervened and the referee then pointed to the spot. Zeki Amdouni did not fail and scored the equalizer.
The Red Devils did not earn much more than a point in this match. After just twenty seconds, inattention by the United defense led to Burnley’s first chance. Former Ajax player André Onana was able to easily turn the tide, but it turned out to be only the first of many times that he had to make a save before half time.
In the first twenty minutes, Manchester United went on the attack and came very close to a goal with Bruno Fernandes’ shot on the post. After that phase it was mainly sloppy and Burnley was the better team. Each time they came across an excellent goalkeeping Onana.
After the break, it was his fellow goalkeeper with Premier League experience who became busy. Ten Hag had given his team a boost halfway through and it looked a bit fresher after the break. The ball just didn’t go past Arijanet Muric, who once kept one game for NAC and half a season for Willem II.
The biggest chances were for Antony, but he couldn’t get past him in the one-on-one. Moments before, he also shot into the keeper from just a few meters away. When he finally got him in, he seemed to become the hero with his fellow Ajax player Onana, but the goalkeeper eventually left the field as a schlemiel.

Bruno Fernandes hits the post! Manchester United is stronger in the early stages and is getting closer to the opening goal. Fernandes gets a little bit of space in the box and hits hard. So against the ironwork.
