Marciano Vink sees two defenders at Feyenoord who could be suitable for Liverpool. Now that trainer Arne Slot is on his way to… the Redsthe question is whether he will try to bring along star players.
“I think Liverpool could use a good defender. Then I think of Geertruida and Hancko,” says Vink on Sunday evening at Dit was het Weekend. Tablemate Kenneth Perez wonders whether those two players are better than the material Liverpool currently has. “I don’t know,” Vink answers. “But Matip is injured and players like Joe Gomez and Ibrahim Konaté are on the bench. They now play with a refined youth player (Jarell Quansah, ed.) next to Van Dijk.”

According to Kenneth Perez, Slot should not limit himself to the Dutch transfer market and the players he knows well. “You have enough money. There really are better players available in the world.” In the broadcast, a comparison is made with Erik ten Hag, who took a number of acquaintances to Manchester United, often without success.
Yet Vink thinks that Slot should not be deterred by this. “If a player from the Netherlands is good enough and you know him well, then you should not limit yourself because you would rather not bring players from the Netherlands. If he really thinks Geertruida or Hancko is good enough, he should just do that.”
