EINDHOVEN – With great interest from around 10,000 fans, PSV is preparing for the match against Sparta Rotterdam in the Philips Stadium on Tuesday morning. That is the match in which it really has to happen: winning the national championship. So it was high time for an open training.
The thousands of fans make themselves heard in the stadium. Season ticket holders bring their families, supporters clap, children take plenty of photos. The open training, which started around 10.30 am, is one of the last opportunities for them to cheer their team on for Sunday’s important match.
PSV needs one more point to become champions of the Netherlands. It could already happen last Thursday in Friesland, against SC Heerenveen. It was not the Eindhoven team’s fault: they recorded their biggest away win ever with 0-8. But because Feyenoord also won, the title celebration had to be postponed.
PSV fans are already celebrating a bit
So next Sunday is another chance. Although PSV can hardly avoid the title. Only if Feyenoord scores ten times every match from now on would the championship be in danger. The PSV supporters in the stadium on Monday do not assume that, and so a small celebration is already taking place.
