Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has provided clarity about Max Verstappen’s future at the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team. The German is “one thousand percent sure” that the three-time world champion will not leave.

It is an open secret that there is unrest within Red Bull Racing. Team boss Christian Horner came into bad light at the beginning of February, after it became known that a female employee accused him of inappropriate behavior. While that soap opera is still simmering on, there is a power struggle going on in which Horner and Red Bull CEO Helmut Marko appear to be on opposite sides, and the news has now emerged that top designer Adrian Newey will be leaving the racing stable.

Wolff is hunting Verstappen

Max Verstappen expressed his support for Marko earlier this season and noted that the Austrian’s possible departure would affect his own future with the team, after which speculation about a possible transfer has started to dominate the media. After all, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff makes little effort to keep his attempts to bring Verstappen to the German superpower behind closed doors from 2025. The Austrian’s open flirting led to irritation last weekend with Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff, who has spoken out for the first time since the unrest at the team started.

In conversation with the German branch of Sky Sports he also provides clarity about Verstappen’s future: “I am one thousand percent sure [dat Verstappen blijft]”, it sounds. “I’m talking to Max, Horner is talking to Max, and nothing points to it [dat hij vertrekt]. Everyone knows who is building the fastest car at the moment. This is evident not only this season, but also in recent seasons. He has a contract until the end of 2028. We have the best car and he drives for the coolest brand. Max feels at home here, he became world champion here and appreciates the environment. We need a little more rest, I won’t deny that, but step by step we will get there.”
