PSV will permanently take over Malik Tillman from Bayern Munich, the Eindhoven team and the Germans report via social media. The young American was rented this season by PSV, which had included an option to purchase in the rental contract.

That option has now been taken. The 21-year-old Tillman has signed with the newly crowned national champion until 2028. How much PSV paid to Bayern is not disclosed.

A permanent takeover of Tillman had been in the air for some time. General manager Marcel Brands indicated a few weeks ago that he intended to include the purchase option in the contract, while Tillman himself was also open to a permanent stay in Eindhoven.

“I am very happy that I will stay with PSV longer. The first season has been great and I hope that we will win many more trophies in the coming years,” Tillman says on the PSV club website. “That gives me the confidence that I am in the right place here and that I can develop into an even better footballer.”

Last week the NOS spoke with Tillman about his future, watch that conversation below:

Technical director Earnest Stewart is also pleased with the signing of Tillman, who won a starting place this season and scored nine goals in the Premier League.

“Malik has more than proven his worth this season. He is a fantastic footballer with a lot of qualities,” says Stewart on the club website. “In addition, he has also undergone great development, as a footballer and as a person. I am very happy that he will continue to play for PSV for a long time.”

Coach Peter Bosz underlines this. “I am very happy that he is staying. He is only 21 years old, but has already taken so many steps in his development this year. That is great to see and I am curious to see how he will continue to develop.”
