Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the annual gaming fair BlizzCon will not take place this year. It is not known why the event is being canceled. The developer does say that the fair will return in the future.

Blizzard writes that it was not an easy decision to cancel BlizzCon this year. The developer does not say why it made this decision, but indicates that other events will follow for upcoming games. This includes: World of Warcraft: The War Within and the first expansion of Diablo IV, called Vessel of Hatred. There are also various activities planned for the thirtieth anniversary of warcraft, which will take place both in person and in-game.

The first BlizzCon trade fair was held in 2005 and has been held annually since then at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, USA. The fair was canceled in 2020 due to the corona pandemic and took place digitally in 2021. The event was also canceled in 2022 due to a sexual harassment lawsuit within parent company Activision Blizzard. BlizzCon took place again in 2023, but in 2024 the developer will take another break for unknown reasons. The developer does confirm that it will be present during the annual Gamescom fair in Cologne in August.
