Youtube phenomenon Acid publicly shames Reuzegommers, lawyers are stunned (Bruges)

The digital popular anger against the Reuzegommers reaches a new “peak”: YouTuber Acid shared the names and photos of five Reuzegommers – some not even involved in Sanda Dia’s death – with his half million followers on Wednesday afternoon.

527,000 subscribers on Youtube. Nathan Vandergunst is by far one of the most popular faces among Flemish and Dutch youth. He has been sharing videos under the pseudonym Acid for years. Often about gaming, sometimes about things that attract his attention in society. Everything he sends out into the world is heavily commented on by teenagers. In 2021 he still participated in ‘The smartest person’.

Wednesday afternoon Acid decided to share his “top 5 Reuzegommers” with his half million followers. In the end he only mentioned four, including two of the leading figures during the fatal baptism: Zaadje and Janker. The functions of their parents are also cited in his “playful” swearing video. Acid then also brings in two Giant Gommers – Elio and Uno – who have nothing to do with baptism at all.

In just one hour, his twelve-minute video has been viewed more than 25,000 times. A new “high point” in the digital witch hunt on the convicted Reuzegommers.

Lawyers of the Reuzegommers involved watched the video with astonishment on Wednesday evening. The fact that Acid names people by name who were not involved in the baptism at all tends to slander and defamation according to some. Whether there will be a legal tail for Acid remains to be seen in the coming days. Earlier, the satirical website ‘t Scheldt was already banned from publication after sharing names and photos of Reuzegommers.
